The Check My Church Statement of Faith

This Statement of Faith represents Check My Church as a Christian ministry and organization. Please read our positions regarding non-essentials at the bottom of this post.

So, without further ado, the Check My Church Statement of Faith:

God

There is one God who exists eternally in three persons. God is the creator of the Universe. He is perfect and holy, infinite, self-existent, self-sufficient, all-powerful, ever-present, and all-knowing. God is absolute truth. He is righteous, just, merciful, He is love, and He never changes.

God is the only being worthy of our worship. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God the Father and the Word of God made flesh. He lived a sinless life, performed many miracles, and atoned for the sins of the entire world by the shedding of His blood on the cross. Christ was resurrected bodily on the third day. He ascended to the right hand of the Father, He is our Lord and Savior, He is deity, and no one can be saved by any other means except through Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit dwells within and regenerates every Christian believer. By the power of the Holy Spirit, the Christian is gifted and enabled to abide in Christ, be the workmanship of God, and be conformed to the will of God by the renewing of their mind. By the Holy Spirit, we are made new creations in Christ. As the Apostle Paul said in Galatians 2:20, "I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me..."

Salvation

The human race is sinful and rebellious toward God and His holiness. In God's perfect justice and mercy, He saved the world through His Son, Jesus Christ. Through the perfect and finished work of Christ on the cross, all who believe in Christ are forgiven by God and reconciled to Him. It is not by our own works that we are saved from eternal separation from God, but by the grace of God and our faith in Him alone.

The Bible

The Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. It is infallible in its original manuscripts. It is the only writing within Christianity considered to be Scripture, and it is "profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness."

The Church

All Christian believers are a member of the Body of Christ or the Universal Church. We are all a part of the Christian Church simply by virtue of our belief. Believers can edify themselves and grow in their faith by gathering in local church buildings and/or homes to fellowship, worship God, study the Bible, and encourage one another in truth and love.

A Note About Non-Essentials

CMC makes no attempt to, and will not engage in debates or arguments regarding non-essential doctrines of the faith, with the only exception being issues surrounding ecclesiology.

The CMC Blog addresses issues regarding the modern American Christian church's ecclesiology regularly as it is the position of CMC and its proponents that certain practices within the local churches are expressions of idolatry, legalism, false teaching, and spiritual abuse.

The aim of the Check My Church database is to inform individual Christians on their local churches in order to better equip them in their search for a good church fit for them as individual members of the Body. It is also meant to alert church-goers of potential red flags, such as affiliations, member requirements, and other factors that many Christians wish to avoid in their church home today.

If you have questions regarding the CMC Statement of Faith or would like to know more about the non-essential issue of ecclesiology, please feel free to peruse the CMC Blog, or email me directly at slyoung687@gmail.com.
